I appreciate a good joke and I find humor in eating disorders.

Even if it’s not recoveritically-correct.

Anyways, as I’ve written before:

“Recovery from an eating disorder is no joke. It is painful, difficult, and complicated. But….sigh. If I can’t laugh in the middle of all this mess I will go insane.”

But sometimes these jokes give me a fugly feeling. It unsettles me.

Hits a bit too close to home.

The jokes can trivialize the gravity of the disease. That’s dangerous.

Anorexia, Bulimia, BED, and COE destroy lives.

When the disease is portrayed as a weight-loss method for shallow, selfish women I take offense.

Because it makes ME feel trivial, selfish, and shallow.

Then I get angry.
