That book is DEEP!!!
I love it because (as usual with Sesame Street) the characters engage with the audience outside the general story line… in this case Grover is actually exposing kids to the first effective “aside” like in theatre. But that element of suspense is classic. As a kid I remember being so thrilled at the inevitability of advancing through the book…. as if propelled by something irresistable, despite the “danger” because… well, otherwise what would be the point?
Kind of like a lot of things in life or… life itself.

Also? It’s just cute.

What I love most about teh Hungry Caterpillar is it’s scholastic notes…it just so effectively teached very young children to engage with colors and the world around them. I also love the use of white space in his books.

And okay … not to be bossy but YOU NEED TO GET YOURSELF ACQUAINTED WITH DR SUESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Horton Hears a Who actually has deep and profound spiritual implications and Myrtle the Turtle is about capitalism! (Kind of..lol)

LGBS for the WIN! Yes… ahhh that golden bind.

I love gifting books to kids as well… love getting the Shel Silverstein poems around 4th or 5th grade.
Simon’s Grandma is the BOMB knitter, crocheter, quilter… all the things. She made that blanket and so many more.

A book I have loved giving over the years is one about “who pooped on the little moles head” (or whatever it translates to). Its a whodunit of a special kind Also, any ‘Spot’ (the dog) book, because they have translations in every language. And some Duch kids books (Miffy!). For later ages, anything by Annie MG Schmidt.

Also, total random to be posting this on your blog but, love, why don’t you make your book happen? Im dead serious here, like, for real

Any Little Golden Book or the Bearenstein Bears, the Velveteen Rabbitt, What a great idea for a baby shower! I get all my nieces and nephews books for their birthday. My grandma used to do that for us, and I’m carrying it on. My niece reads maybe more than I do.

Cute kid AND blanket AND Missy. I understand why you may have a smile hangover after seeing these pictures!
