I’m still giggling over the hilarity of a title like that on my blog. Food and Fashion….heheheheee. Ridiculous. Love it.
Anyways —
I put on pants without elastic for the first time in a long time.
Work is picking up and I’m seeing clients so this is a sort-of forced situation but nonetheless significant.
Top = White House Black Market
Pants = Banana Republic
Shoes = Kenneth Cole
Wrinkles = Me and my chair

In other atypical news, the price of asparagus skyrocketed this past month.
If you don’t know – I’m an asparagus-a-holic.
My Native American name would be “Dances with Asparagus.”
For real. I’ve eaten it 363 days of the year for about 3-4 years now.
I’m not just talking about two or three stalks. I’m talking 10-12 oz daily. That’s lowballing it. It’s an expensive dependency habit.
It was hard, but I’ve had about 4 asparagus-free days over the past two weeks. I’m quite proud, as my asparagus love is a tiny bit disorderly.
Not that needing to eat choosing to eat the same food every day is a problem or anything. #peanutbutter

There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. Prices are slowly dropping and asparagus made a re-appearance on my plate. I did not skimp on the portions either.
Shrimps.
Fashions.
LOL.
- Since work is picking up I’m thinking my blog posts might be short and sweet and maybe I will blog more often.

- Be atypical in your commenting and share something you typically wouldn’t! (If you want).

I’m sorry to bother but what a hell did you mean when you say you have no style? Of course I might me drunk but I clearly see a model rocking some everyday fashion in that pick. I however write in English, so alcohols intrusion is excluded. You are so beautiful, Missy.
And I’m really sorry for the asparagus. I had it tonight as a treat. And it was better than cake.
Oh my goodness this is the best comment in the history of my blog comments.
I feel like I am partying with you on your birthday! LOL.
Gosh you sound like a great drinking buddy — you need to come visit!
Haha oh Melis you made my day! First I cried laughing from this; My Native American name would be “Dances with Asparagus.” , then I cried laughing because the meme LOOKS LIKE YOU! (no, it doesnt, but the picture with you and the asparagus have you holding your hands up, in a pink top with blond hair and the meme has that all as well!) and then Gretas happy drunk comment. Jeez. Crying from laughing so hard (while home alone and ready to get to bed), I think that makes for a pretty atypical tuesday here!
Oh, and I love your top! Totally cute! Goes perfect with that tan indeed
Chain reaction – your comment gave me the out louds as well..
So true re: the resemblance in the meme. The pink and the yellow.
And Greta’s comment is just TOO awesome for me and I am glad that you share my humor.
We need to bully her into v-logging.
(I have a secret love for Vlogs by my favorite friendlies.)
HINT HINT
Hello lovely! You look beautiful- loving the trousers and pretty top (mine are much more wrinkled- this is because I don’t have a good relationship with the iron!)
Mmmm, asparagus! I only buy in season usually so I have a yearning for some now- for shame, making me jealous!!!
Hmmmm, share something I usually wouldn’t? Mmmmm, not sure! I love Brahms!!!
I’m pretty sure you are one of the classiest bloggers I know of.
Everytime I see asparagus I think of you! And I’m tempted to buy and feast. Then I’m like…$5? Hell naw. I could get 2 jars of PB for that. But your meal looks good. Makes me want to eat shrimp.
Oh pants. I have a few work pairs that are comfy, but I do not have a good relationship w/ my jeans. Maybe I just need some that fit better. But stretchy pants <3. Today I wore lulu pants with skirt on top. Comfy. Whenever I wear yoga clothes to work in disguise it feels like a win. Even if its with a skirt from 8th grade and a thrift store sweater.
I wish it was warm enough here to have my toes-ies out! My toes are naked. I need to paint them. With…glitter!
Girl? Peanut butter is $2.50 by you?
LOL. Ours just went down from $4.25 to $3.75 and that is for the Smuckers and Whole Foods brands.
I hear you though — just shows you how disorderly my obsession is that I spend that much. I did, however refrain from $5.99 a pound. That I could not do.
I want a picture of you in outfit.
(My toes have pedicure polish from December — It’s sparkly but looks a MESS.
~$2.50 for a small jar of the Kroger brand natural creamy if you get 2. Its probably GMO, but its economical. Legit brands cost more, but the PB is why I’m a Kroger girl.
Your asparagus thing doesn’t sound disordered. It sounds like its your thing! Everyone has their thing. And is entitled to their thing. And I’m pro-spend $-on healthy-delicious-foodz things. Esp for us recovery folks. But yes, economically it’d be good to scale back or bargain hunt. Balance & moderate. I’m currently trying to make my own soups b/c Amys is way too much. And trying to have PB more than other nut butters.
I debate painting my toenails. They’ll chip (and even more w/ toe shoes) & itll annoy me. But I think I’d feel better if they were done. But taking it off when it chips is annoying. I was thinking of bringing nail polish on the March vacay and having it be a girls manicure thing. But thats in over a month. But reservation–my polish is old & toxic. Just another neurotic mental battle. I need to go paint my damn toe nails. Fin.
How can you come to Florida and NOT VISIT!!!
Rent a car.
Do it.
I can’t afford it (see asparagus, above) but I will treat you when you get here, Pedicure on the house.
LOL.
Unless?
PS–I hope you’re cooking your veg, etc w/ healthy oils and not skimping.
Um…I recently am on a roasted celery kick. I use cooking spray and that counts!
I just prefer steamed. (and ew…never raw except cucumber)
LOL – Trust me I am NOT low on fats with all the nut butter I put away. *Whispers* and butter spray *blush*
Heh I guess I’m hesitant to believe yo getz yo fatz b/c a.)you’re so skinny! and b.)you eat it in 1/2 tbsp quantities. Coconut oil recommended. (which I’m sure I’ve gushed about before).
FL visit! But how would I explain that to the fam? hmm
YOu are kidding with the 1/2 T comment PLEEZE tell me.
When I wrote about that it was so misunderstood….
It’s more like instead of a tablespoon I take my 1/2 to the couch with intentions of …well if 2-3 or whatever doesn’t satisfy I can maybe do “just 1/2 more” LOL. Most of the time I lose count…or after a certain amount my brain says screw it…I eat what I want and then scratch my journal page from that day and (you know my issues…wake up not hungry at all…etc.)
So here’s the thing – I would wear that very same outfit and feel all kinds of dressed up and stylish, so either I am not stylish or you are. Let’s go with you are and we both win! No?
Asparagus and shrimp is a meal made in Katie-heaven. Want. I just ate some bean-y soup and you should be grateful that you aren’t in the same state with me because WHOA.
That’s not atypical though.
You missed the part where it was so atypical I wrote about it on the internet…lol.
I actually have a great office/casual wardrobe but clothing is just so complicated it hangs there.
LOL. Beany soup is good for the heart.
Ummm I love that outfit!
As for atypical – I just wore (proudly) the loudest fair isle leggings and everytime I caught a glimpse of myself I giggled. Win
Cheap Thrills and Silliness!
That is pure “Joy.”
I had shrimp yesterday too! But mixed with creamed spinach (from a steamfresh bag) and Jasmine ready rice. Fastest lunch ever! Love your blog, LOVE U Missy! ♥
Gosh shrimp gosh. So goooooood.
I wish I could eat them fresh so they weren’t always full of Sodium.
We’ll hang out soon and eat PB and Bacon (faux bacon for me) soon.
Fashionista! Girl give yourself some credit
LOL.
I clean up nice but Fashionista?
Anything ending in “ista” I have trouble relating to. And that is why I could never work at Starbucks.
I love that shirt! It’s simple, classy & cute
I think pants with elastic are highly underrated
haha.
Whoo hooo for new pants!! You look very professional with that outfit! I have noticed the prices of asparagus rising and holy shit.what the eff!!? I lovee asparagus and need to have some TONIGHT!
It’s the weather…the farmers are struggling too. I feel bad.
and those ARE new pants….*gulp* better than wearing my old ones that still fit but just WAY differently than when I was a twig.
i’m in love with white house black market. And asparagus, i love, my pee does not. TMI? Glad work is picking up. xxoo
I KNOW!
That entire store please. Yes, all of it.
Each season.
this comment is based on concern, not hostility at all! so don’t take this the wrong way!
i wanted to bring to your attention something i’m learning in medical school that you may find helpful!
http://dynamicsofhappy.wordpress.com/2013/02/07/anorexia-is-considered-a-medical-emergency/
i hope this knowledge can help you in your recovery!!
And my response…(besides thanks for your concern)is based on concern as well as confusion.
I did link to your article and it seems rather obvious to me but most importantly I found the following statement to be EXTREMELY offensive. It goes beyond vapid into ignorance.
“not eating for the sake of being skinny CAN COST YOUR LIFE!”
Sigh.
I hope that – as a medical student – you are not being indicative of what is being taught in school.
Im sorry for being ignorant and insensitive, and I hope you understand that I have nothing of the intention of helping people.
I should not have spoken from a purely physiological standpoint- the purpose of me simplifying the disease is because I hope to bring to people’s attention the life threatening aspect of anorexia so perhaps this info can prevent the worsening or aid in recovery.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some tips and guidelines for how To sound more sensitive when I am speaking of the subject ?
And, once again I’m sorry for my ignorance on the subject. I hope you understand that there’s a reason why we are students and not doctors- because we still have lots of learning to do. Actually, even doctors still have learning to do as well- there is still a lot unknown about the human body.
But, rest assured that I will most likely not go into psychiatry- as some more than others are better and probably more fitted for the subject.
Sorry to be so snippy.
You sound like a total sweetheart.
Here’s the deal — and you know, now that I think about it you are not to blame because it is society as a whole that presents eating disorders in this light and there is a certain truth to it —
anorexia (especially when it gets extreme) and other eating disorders are more complex than just “wanting to be skinny” or look like Kate Moss, etc.
In most cases – even if it began with a desire to improve appearance or because of a poor body image — by the time one is diagnosably out of control and our lives are un-manageable it really has very LITTLE to do with just being skinny.
I jump on the defensive (in this case probably offensive) when I see this just because it makes me so angry, but no doubt my response was a bit overblown.
I’m not sure what would be a better statement…
Just know that eating disorders are not about “not eating for the sake of being skinny” despite what the wannarexia Pro-Ana internet things would have people believe.
Also in a lot of cases (myself included) – we KNOW EDs have major, serious physiological consequences. We’re not stupid. We know we could die from it, but it is just. that. much. of a compulsion (not to eat, to purge, to overexercise, to binge, etc.) so that while we understand the seriousness intellectually, it pales in comparison to the emotional urgency of the need to do the behaviors.
there’s also the fact that if I cared about being kind and protective of my body, I probably wouldn’t have an ED in the first place…
Truth!
Aww I love your outfit! Being on the fashion posts! I had no clue asparagus prices were up! I will admit that asparagus to you is Brussels sprouts to me
so good!
I’m glad to hear that your work is picking up! I’m the sort of girl who needs distractions/something to be busy with to keep my mind of food…so although this might not be the healthiest form of recovery, I wish my job situation were as smooth-sailing as yours
