I’m flattered when people wonder after me when I don’t blog, especially since most of us are all best friends on the Facebook where I continuously litter the news feed with crass modern hip-hop, peanut butter & jelly, and the occasional enlightening or funny meme.
You know, just my typical ridiculousness overflowing on the interwebs.
Who’s bad?
Anyways, in summary I am alive and well (and BAD) thanks for asking.
I’m still on holiday, though. My blog is too.
I celebrate the Christmas season until January 6, the day of Epiphany.
The Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ into flesh and his baptism.
In my words: it’s when we think about how lucky we are to have an accessible god both WITH us and WITHIN us. A God we can talk to without fancy lingo or even words at all….A God that understands our human nature and temptations.
A God that hipster youth-group kids can call their “homeboy” via ironic ringer tees. (That was a joke and I am hilariously irreverent).
It also means I get to have twinkly lights up 12 days after Christmas.
Twinkly lights make everything better. Everything.
I say keep the Twinkly lights, decorations and pretty bows around a while longer….little reminders of how lucky we are and loved.
Because we are gifted and loved by God.
Like, SO gifted ya’ll. *wink*
But I’ll be around next week.
Here is a picture because I like to look people in the eye when I talk to them.
Also there is almost no visible bra strap in that one and I wanted to show off.
Not trying to flaunt my “no visible eyebrows” in the picture, however but vanity and shame are not activities I excel in.
Obviously.
- When do you officially snap out of Holiday mode? Decorations up till when?
I think it’s borderline tacky to stick it out till the 6th so they FOSHO come down quick afterward. But that’s just me.Oh…I found this and think it’s hilarious.

Oh missy. I loved how you ended your blog post…so random!
I wonder where you’ve gone when you don’t blog, but as long as I see you posting pictures of Lenny Kravitz on FB, I know all is well.
i second that. and i always miss you. but enjoy your holiday!
You are so mysteriously hilarious! I find it awesome.
My holiday will be over when I go back to the gym… maybe tomorrow, maybe in February. I hope it’s tomorrow. Though no one cares but me!
And Happy New Year, btw
I was wondering but I kept seeing pbj, Mj, and Lenny on face so I figured just a break
I like to take all the decorations down as soon as possible…like that night haha!
Enjoy your extended holiday!
I like to stay in holiday mood for a bit in January. But @ home now mi madre’s thing is taking all the directions down on New Year’s Eve.
But I still feel like I’m on holiday. A little Christmas music. A little vacation time.
On the other hand, I’m okay when the holidays are over b/c I really don’t have anyone to spend them with…and the uncomfortable/boring family gatherings are over.
And there you go making me crave asparagus.
I was making a PB sandwich today (with real bread) and thought “maybe I’ll add Jelly and be like Missy” and then I couldn’t find any Jelly. :/ But I managed some how.
That’s exactly how we do it in Argentina! (or used to do in my case)… We put the decorations on on December 8th (the day of the Virgin Mary) instead of Thanksgiving and we are supposed to take them down on January 6th after the “Reyes Magos” (which is the night when the 3 Wise Men bring gifts for the kids; another version of Santa Claus I guess)…
oh, the funniest part is when you leave out water and grass for the Wise Men Camels and you need to leave your shoes out because they leave the presents in your shoes… isn’t that great?
I love that last picture! Haha. We just packed up most of our Christmas decorations this week because my parents “don’t have time to do it later.” The lights are still up outside though!
Haha that last one made me laugh out loud!
And I keep my Christmas lights on until….. Spring. Haha. I love my little lights in the dark, cold winter here in Europe. But the rest of the Christmassy is OUT this week!
I get my dose of Missy via some technical medium, and as long as that happens, I’m good knowing you’re good. (Still though, I thought of you today while eating my latest cucumber creation and brainstorming what to flavor my next batch of pb with – because there is NO pb in this house?!? WHAT!?!? I know. I’m on it. Bought the nuts at the store tonight.) <– RANDOM.
My grandma started a holiday tradition that she called Little Christmas on Jan 6th. I think it is 3 Kings Day, too? So, anyway, my non-religious self even knew about the Epiphany.
The tree came down on Dec 28th this year. I never plan when I'll take it down, it just comes down when I'm sick of looking at it. This year was early because I spent that whole day de-cluttering and re-organizing my house and my life. All the decorations got purged and stored. It felt great.
1.) You look gorgeous! Wowza
2.) That food looks delish and not ugly
3.) Happy New Year!
I love keeping sparkly lights up longer than just Dec 25!
I agree, twinkling lights make everything seem better
Enjoy your holiday x
