I’ll let The Cure have Fridays.
It’s Saturday and lately I’ve been loving:
Walking around like a soccer player.
Carb-a-licious Munchies.
(That round thing? It’s called a compact disc, kids.)
A well-stocked Kimchi supply.
My massage chair.
It’s heated, too.
I’m enjoying it as I blog this nonsense, which I’m doing as part of Operation De-Stagnation. (It’s kind-of hard to type.)
I’m feeling better already.
Want some crackers with that cheese?
I’m all about cheap thrills and giggles. Keeps me sane less insane.
What have you been loving lately?

So jealous of your massager! I’ve always wanted one of those for my chair at work, it would make work a lot more fun
.
Enjoy your carbs
. I found some Rice Works chips that are really tasty this week so I have been nomming on those!
I love those things. They are made of whole rice, but the second ingredient is flour which I avoid but I get “naughty” and buy them anyway when I am feeling frisky.
What have I been loving lately?
Buskers. Winter sun. My big purple hoodie. My family. My lovely friends. My little blue leather prayer book. The sight of leafless trees against bright blue sky. Cacti. Durham Cathedral.
I have so much to be grateful for.
Hoooooddddddiiiiieeeeeessss.
Yes.
Chip-ins are bomb!! I need that massager…ah it would be perfect right now on the couch : )
YES We actually tried those Chip-Ins when Katie visited last year! The white cheddar are ridiculous! They make a brilliant salad crouton if you smash them up
Hope you’re doing great Missy, enjoy your weekend – xo
Ding! United States of Tara is a great show.
I’ve been loving my new Tevo Vero Winter Boots. I tested them this morning in the calm of twilight and they actually kept my feet warm. I was hesitant at first because I’ve been married to Keens for years.
Definitely loving having someone to talk with who just allows what is to be (Oh say – anyone know who that is?).
Loving the daydreams that keep me motivated even when I feel so held down.
i LOVE talking with you on the phone and i really don’t like talking on the phone….so that is something!
i am NOT loving your sandals and socks! high heels and socks? yes, so in. sandals and socks! never! nope! haha!
just kidding. but really, i have an extreme hatred for that specific style because:
1. the bitch who lost weight in high school thus becoming my original inspiration apparently heard the bells and whistles before taking it too far. i passed up within 3 months and kept going. #regret.
2. the bitch who stole Sir Henry from me plays soccer and wears birkenstocks. my nickname for her is “birckenstock. #jealousy.
3. the local well-to-do soccer housewife moms stand in line at starbucks, feet smelling, acting bitchy, which is clearly a trait associated with those shoes. #annoyingSnobs.
hmph. now that i think of it, this is how i felt LAST year. so now i shall embrace the look! not for me, but for my friends who love it.
so, missy, nice shoes.
1. i passed *her up.
3. replace “line” with “queue.” queue sounds so much smarter.
glad you’re having a lovely saturday. xxx
It’s okay not to go back on the socks and sandals thing, girl. Trust me. You are way to divanista for that. What I DO love is cut-off tights that end at the arch of my foot.
Any tips on what to wear those with (I am usually barefoot at home when I wear them)
And….WHAT-EVER Sir Henry. Pshaw. Enough of him.
YOu need a man who can appreciate a nice pair of Louboutins. (And run back to Starbucks for the fallen nut).
hahahahahaha! i literally just laughed like a schoolgirl!!!
:):)
sir edmund would absolutely appreciate louboutins, but i just can’t do it (yet) (later) (ever). i prefer older men. but we’ll see!
tights that end at the arch of your foot = LOVE. i often pull down my yoga pants to that location just to elongate the aesthetic of my leg.
hmmm, but i do often wear that particular style in my english Hunter boots because it allows for an easy foot insertion without needing to wear socks (unless it’s freezing in which case my toes want to fall off, so i avoid such arrangement). but i think someone should actually see YOUR beautiful, delicate ankle and arch (because it’s freaking gorgeous, missy), so really? this might sound awfully “heathers” circa 1988 (haha), but i think a strappy sandal (with a heel) would be fabulous with a pant legged arch (without the 80s white fringe, lol!). be sure that your pant is black or grey! NOT white!
i’ve enjoyed two glasses of wine hence the ultra excitement of this response. you have no idea of exactly how much i love this conversation, and i’m posting a link to your article to my facebook page right this very moment. xxx
I loved the rainbow I saw this morning. It was huge and very bright. So beautiful – my face lit up with a smile when I saw it.
Cheap thrills and getting mundane chores done, that’s my life today. Laundry, hanging pictures, taking pictures, FINALLY taking down and storing all my Christmas decorations, organizing my closet (FINALLY) and washing the kitchen floor (twice, because I shattered a jar of pickles on it about 10 minutes after the first time….grrr)
Now, work. Awesome Sat night. LAMENESS over here.
I’ve been loving ashtanga yoga, my doggies, hoarding materials from the library, interviewing people with extrasensory abilities, making my own peanut butter in my new Vitamix, and pretending I have a massage chair.
We used to wear socks and sandals in pouring rain when I was in primary school… ICK! Soggy socks all day long
I’m loving sunshine and sprinkling summer rain, a cooler day after our heatwave. The trees and flowers and grass at my new home, my cat’s blissful enjoyment of finally living almost outside rather than in the city. the brook i found yesterday complete with ducks and dogs going swimming. Friends who are always there for me no matter what. Life being beautiful, even when times are hard. Books and the knowledge that my new local library is a short stroll away… bliss
xx
I’d just like you to know.. im insanely jealous of your heated massage chair….
I have to chuckle at the massage chair, because my dentist now has one. I was there last week, and was like WTf, my chair is moving. LOL Then, the hygienist said it was a massage chair. It was definitely different for a dental appointment.
Missy! I had Kimchi yesterday! I thought of you as I saw it and grinned to myself!I was soo excited- it’s seriously NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It came as a side with my teraki chicken in Wagamamas!!!! My only complaint was there wasn’t enough!!!
Hee hee, the compact disc thing- that’s still me! I have no form of MP3 device or personal music player- it’s just me and an ancient CD players!!!!!
The massage chair is a nice idea EXCEPT the last time I had a pedicure, they sat me in one of those things and it BRUISED me- it actually left bruises on my back!!!!
What am I loving this week? My electric blanket, Anton Chekov, seeing my boyfriend after a 2-week hiatus whilst he went through essay-hell, the YUMMY vegetable soup I made today, my dressing gown! Having finally bought some new crisps from the supermarket today!
I actually find that the ONE thing I appreciate about weight gain is it makes my massage chair “better” LOL.
Oh and I love the fact that people in other parts of the world think of me when they think of Kimchi.
I LOVE electric blankets too.
So glad I do not NEED one though.
I’m no style-crazy fashionable person here, but I love to rock socks + addidas sandals too. I used to play soccer and that was probably my second favorite aspect of the sport (running was my favorite, hence the switch to XC/track).
Makes me wish it was summer here!!
I have massage chair too. Nothing better than a massage after a long hard day, It helps you sleep better
I would like to know what Kimchi is like. I see it all the time, as i used to live near Chinatown here… but never have the courage to try it. I love vegies, love pickled things… I think I’m scared it might be very spicy. Is there are lot of chilli in it, is it very hot?
Kimchi comes in all varietys — it can be spicy. Just ask the purveyor. They also make water kimchi, no red peppers.
Anyways, it tastes like…um…GOSH! I cannot explain. Pungent, briny, garlicky….but then again every single one is different.
Basically kimchi refers to fermented vegetables (kind of like sauerkraut and pickles). You salt the veggies and then stick them into an airtight container and as the air interacts with the veggies a bacteria is released that is good for you and the veggies.
The reason it is so good for you is because of all of the good bacteria (lactobacilli) that proliferate when it is fermented. These lactobacilli are found on the surface of all living things but they are especially prolific on the leaves and roots of plants growing in or near the ground. The by product of these lactobacilli is lactic acid which not only preserves vegetables and fruit perfectly, but also promotes the growth of healthy flora in the intestines. Kind of like yogurt.
it sounds really good! i will have to challenge myself. it reminds me of salt pickles too, the way it’s made. One of my fave food blogs had a recipe and i tried it, it worked. So easy. http://noteatingoutinny.com/2011/01/21/carrot-cucumber-and-radish-oshinko/
xx
They were a bit salty for me, but I’m an amateur. And Kimchi always looks appetising in the shops. That’s my next food related challenge
I love that website! Did you read the book?
