I’d like you to relax…..take a deep breath and get ready for another round of
OMMM- On My Mind Monday.
Where the breathing is deep, but the thoughts? Not so much.
Here are some random thinks I’ve thunk this past week.
In no particular order. For no particular reason. Because.
I re-watched Juno last week and I’ve had “this song” in my head ever since. Total earworm.
The term “earworm” makes me squirm, by the way.
Speaking of movies on television – the movie Knocked Up is FOREVER on the E! Network. They’ve shown it about 8,695 times. What’s up with that? Too much of a good thing is a real thing.
Not to mislead you. I actually don’t spend much time watching television. I average 25-28 hours a week at most, usually while multi-tasking. Sounds like a lot, but the average American watches about 35 hours a week (source).
I’m better than that. I waste my time on the internet…like a true sophisticant.
I joined pinterest recently, and am wondering when the novelty will wear off. Hopefully soon. Or I may need a 12-Step.
I’m beginning to hear the audible sound of time being sucked away (even as I type this) – making my guilty pleasure a little heavy on the guilt side.
In fact, I’m gonna bail out now and do something more productive. You know, so I can have something better to blog about. (I’m Kidding.)
PS: Is it moral of me to waste your time by writing this malarkey?
- Do you have a Pinterest Account?
- What was the last “earworm” you’ve had.
- What’s been on your mind – nothing profound please you’ll give me a complex.

ahaha oh gosh i waste SO much time on the internet!!.. havent seen knocked up yet!
25 hours of tv?! Holy guacamole! I spend 0 hours watching tv (yep, climbing on my pedestal), but it’s because I spend 35 hours plus on the computer (peeling myself off). Oh yeah and cause I have four little ones who watch enough for the both of us. Oh and cause I find it “noise” and annoying. I prefer quiet, you know, like the sound of my fingers tapping away on the keyboard.
I’m sad to say I usually turn the tub on at around 8 or so and leave it on till 11. Seven days a week. It adds up quick.
I cannot watch tv during the day though and I prefer quiet too.
I saY hOLY gUACAMOLE TOO!!!
I rarely watch TV, maybe one hour a week or less. Except I do like to watch old movies on TCM in the evenings. So if you throw in a few movies, about 6 to 7 hours weekly. I find regular TV too loud and obnoxious that I can barely stand to have it on.
I do spend way too much time on the computer, though. This is going to have to change since classes started. I have one graduate class left to take, and I am starting my thesis this semester with plans on completing it next semester, so…I am not going to have the free time I did this summer. In my defense I will have to use the computer for class work, and if I just happen to click onto FB once in a while… (And where did the summer go, anyway???)
ohhh gosh this post may of been written about me, im so bad, i will just browse facebook for hours or on twitter. im so naughty.
I hope you are okay, sorry i havent posted much.
As long as you are happy and living and not saddy-pants …you can blog whenevah!
I am addicted to the internet. It doesn’t help that I am currently looking for jobs online. So I am rejoicing in the fact that I am doing something somewhat productive (looking and applying for jobs online) and checking on facebook, blogging, and uploading inspiring pictures to photobucket.
I haven’t looked into pininterest but I shall now…..like I really need more things to scour online! ha ha ha!
And earworm sends a shiver up my spine! EW.
I only watch TV at the nights when I reluctantly give up the computer for Stu to use.
Thanks for the ear worm ;p
Love pinterest’
Well, I for one appreciate you wasting my time with this. The rest of my time is being sucked into the internet void of Job Hunting. The things you’ve thunk are more entertaining, though.
What’s been on my mind is: why do they advertise jobs for “internal applicants only” externally? Why do they do that?? It gives me false hope.
Also, the foetus and belly in the Knocked Up poster look like an ear, and it makes me wonder if you deliberately did that to subtley link in with the earworm topic, and therefore if you are a secret mastermind at subliminal….er…stuff, or whether I’m just going a little bit mad thanks to job hunting and SEEING SIGNS AND CONNECTIONS EVERYWHERE o.O
I thank you for this dose of procrastination
No, actually I glimpsed it and thought it was an ear — thought briefly to myself why that might be (“Why and ear in a Gynos office?” and promptly moved on. Cause that’s how short my attention span is.
My recent trip out of the US made me realize just how much time I spend online! I don’t watch regular TV at all (don’t own one), but make up for it on hulu and in generalized internet time-wasting.
Most recent earworm, and possibly WEIRDEST ever: the German national anthem. My running route in Armenia went by the German embassy, so every morning I would be reminded of it…there was no escape. Deutschland, Deutschland, uber alles…
youre on pinterest? Now we’re all sucked in! at least we have each other. Maybe we do need that 12 step program.
Oh my gosh, I feel you on the Pinterest thing. I regret to tell you that after several months, I still cannot stop pinning. The good news is I’m all kinds of crafty now, but my free time has been clean erased. A pintervention is around the corner, I can feel it.
I have been taking a lot of personal time off the internet and it is working wonders for my mind. I’m glad someone else feels the same one.
Oh, gosh, now I’ve got “Hey Mickey” stuck in my head! I’ve noticed that I don’t even have to hear a song to get it stuck, I just have to randomly think of it and then a few verses keep running through my head. And I don’t even get the whole song to play through my head, just the most annoying or weird part!
I have the TV on mainly for background noise for a few hours a day, but occasionally I’ll actually watch something. But I usually get too bored and end up doing something else.
You said malarkey. I love that word. I’ve never seen it written before.
It is a welcome addition to any vernacular.
hey lady! thanks for finding my new blog!
knocked up made me ball the first time i saw. don’t know why it caused such a crazy reaction but i have yet to watch it since then. none of my friends cried so i was super embarassed.
pinterest = LOVE! and i prefer to think of it as a creative activity rather than a time waster
I just signed up for Pinterest but I really don’t know how to use it! Maybe I’ll figure it out eventually.
I love Juno
. Was one of my favorite movies when it came out when I was in college.
Btw, stay away from StumbleUpon…You will find that very addictive, too.
P.S. Go see “The Help” if you can…Wonderful movie that will open your eyes and make you feel and cry. I loved “Juno” and watched it several times.
Now I’m squirming!
But are you singing in your head?
“sophisticate.” LOVE that word!
it’s so perfect and all things jacqueline kennedy onassis! !
AW, but you misread. The word is sophisti-cant – which I believe is equally awesome (0:
oh, nooo! that’s my wine! i always drink at nighttime, to avoid a binge! that’s definitely a part of my recovery . . .
and actually, after devouring your blog, i posted this to my facebook page: “hot damn! i’ve met so many fantastic eating disordered souls, (struggling, recovering, and recovered), through this blogging experience. i’m so happy to participate in this community. next week’s blog entries shall be off the HOOK. today was a milestone, a hard one. i even missed yoga. i hope you’ll enjoy the content. xo http://www.nicoleandgwendolyn.com” ~ it is so nice to know you, missy miller!
Oh good lord…get down here in time for happy hour okay? Heehee.
I love wine.
Thanks for the compliments — I am in love with your blog too!
latest earworm is one of the most annoying ones ive had – kelly clarkson, behind these hazel eyes. urgghhh it was like the earworm had a litter of earworm babies inside my ear…lol
is it wrong that i find your humor the most contagious. you will see me frequent your site multiple times in one night to boost my mood. even when your posts are of a more serious or more sober tone (because life has to throw us bad with good-aint that the sad truth!)… i always find your encouragement sticks with me throughout my day. you pop into my head as often as earworms..except you’re always welcome to leave a litter there
hehe
xoxo <3
I waste my whole life on the internet! I am forever on my iPhone, on one app or another. It barely leaves my hand!
The Juno soundtrack is one of my faves. I am not a big fan of the film (i know-im in a minority with that one) but the soundtrack is incredible!
