Here are some things I’ve ate, thinks I’ve thunk, happenings that happened and random details about me. (Why? Answer here.)
Can I tell you about the smoosh? It’s like a PBJ sandwich except one thing: it’s totally not like a PBJ sandwich. Still awesome, though.
Apples, Peanut Butter and “Jelly.” I have yet to find a truly sugar-free jelly so I just heat up berries and smash ‘em like it’s hot.
I also tried a new drink:
Which comes complete with an inspiring bottle cap:
“I am Grateful”
You know what? I am grateful for warm comments on –>this post<– where I lamented the well-meaning comments on my weight gain that can really hurt the insane part of me. Thank you!
I am also grateful for some new-to-me shorts in a new-to-me larger size. I am grateful for friends who think I need to show off my enhanced Boot-tay and have plenty of hand-me-downs to assist with that.
Speaking of bigger things…. You know the saying everything’s bigger in Texas? I think everything is bigger in Korea.
Like this “Asian Pear” (aka apple pear) the size of my face. I got it at the Korean mart for half the price you’d pay for one a quarter of it’s size.
It was Huge. (My head is really big!)
I love big shrimp, too. These are not the biggest I’ve had but they’ll do.
Shrimp with roasted kale, asparagus, onion and awful lighting. You are welcome.
Another “dinner par usuelle.” I should call it the Missy special.
Steamed asparagus, peppers, mushrooms, onion, kale and Morningstar Farm’s Grillers Chik’n.
But really? The real-deal “Missy specials” are more unique.
Like Pickles and PeaBee. Of course. Anyone try it yet? <—

And I’d like to introduce:
“Ants on a Log, Missy Style”
I’ll let the picture speak for itself.
Speaking of snacks…leftover Sushi should always be consumed on the same night. Mainly because I cannot sleep with sushi in the house.
This is called Naruto sushi – no rice or seaweed, just the veggies wrapped in cucumber. I am always grateful for leftover sushi.
I’m also grateful for my first sun “reminder” of the season.
Nature’s way of saying “Don’t mess with me, next time I’ll burn ya good!”
And just in case you missed any of these recipes:
Sweet Potato Fiesta Salad (Vegan)

Oodles of Shroom-oodles (Vegan, Gluten-free)

Spreadippity Sunflower Artichoke (Vegan)

Lazy White Vegetarian Girl Bibimbap

That is all.
Peace, blessings and for those of you not in rainy-paradey parts?
Wear sunscreen, okay?
Look! There’s my bra again.

I have to try a PB and J like that! And I loove apple pears – that one is huge! That sunburn looks painful.
I got a similar one on my chest/front shoulders but only took a picture of my back which wasnt as red, lol.
Oh, that’s just a sun reminder. I get one every year. It burns for a day and then goes away and I never let it happen again.
Not sure how you managed to get your bra strap ON TOP of your tank. You have mad skillz woman.
Usually when I think of your diet, I don’t feel like I could get into the no flour thing. Sugar, yeah, but flour, not so much. YET, when you post photos of your delicious steamed veggies, I think, yeah, I’m down with that.
I didn’t even notice the bra twist until I was writing this. I think this should start being a fashion blog.
Yummy food!!
Put aloe on your burn. It will help! XXX
i like the missy platter! And the peabea and pickle! have you tried cucumber and sunflower seed butter? thats a good one. i actually added nooch to the seed butter too. call me crazy!
Holy crap that pear is INSANE! I love fruit, but I don’t even know if I’d be able to get through that in one sitting. Epic.
And you weren’t kidding about the pickles and PB! Love it! That has to be one of the strangest food combos I’ve ever heard of!
Hope your sunburn doesn’t start hurting too much
Put some aloe on it!
Oh, but that is like a three times/share with co-workers deal.
They hold up pretty well in the fridge.
Hey Melissa!
It’s your former ex-roomie again!
Just wanted to lend a word of support to you here on your blog. For those that are frequent commenters on this site, I lived with Missy in the late 90s, and I had no indication that she struggled with body consciousness at the time and she did not exhibit any signs of while we lived together, though even if she did show signs, I’m not sure what would have been appropriate to say. But we reconnected via Facebook after all these years and I just wanted to say that I’m here now.
I recognize that it is all a process and I know you’ll have your ups and your downs along the way. I hope to be here for you anytime you feel down about things and need an impartial ear to talk to.
And of course, I’m always here to help with recipes
Trying to expand my arsenal of vegetarian/vegan meals, so I always welcome your advice on that.
Hugs and Kisses,
Brad
You are the best thing EVER. Please let me know if you ever come down. I would love for you to stay at my place, too if you wanna invite friends that’s cool too as long as they are cool with dealing with a small apartment.
Are you kidding? I read your peabee and pickle post and instantly walked to my fridge and tried it. Well…with sunflower seed butter. Fan-freaking-tastic, I tell you. Genius.
AND I went to the store for those mushrooms after reading that post. Not there. Stupid small town.
I worked in Georgia for a summer and spent a lot of time catching birds on farms – one had tons of fruit, including asian pears. Let’s just say I ate a couple. A day.
Hello
I’ve never commented before and was just lead to your blog from another blog I read — I hope you don’t mind if I read.
Anyway… (sorry I feel awkward whenever I comment on a blog the first time) I couldn’t help but notice the PB on pickles. My grandpa used to eat that and we would laugh at him for it… yet, to this day, I’ve never gotten around to trying it. I always thought he was just joking and that he must have been the only one to eat that — you have proved me wrong!!
Thank-you for the reminder to go try that
Three cheers for huge fruit! The only fruit I don’t enjoy XXL is banana’s because I can”t eat them all in one sitting. But other then that the bigger the better (especially when it comes to berries
So much yum in this post – looks awesome!!
When I come visit… (totally not going to happen, don’t worry! I don’t think my Scottish skin could cope with the Florida sunshine, I get burnt like that in March – ouchee! Nevermind lack of transatlantic airfare funds). Aaanyway – on my imaginary visit we’ll eat a Missy special of all those gorgeous steamed veggies, kay?
Lots of love, x x x
Ouch you look crispy! But sun burn aside, this post makes me want to cheer. Hooray! Gooooo Missy! YAY for enhanced bootays, pickles & PB (yep, I’ve made a sandwich of that combo — surprisingly good! blogged about it of course here: http://www.bethmorey.com/?p=267), & your not-quite-PB&J sandwich. Every bit of food on this post makes me want to nom nom nom. Woohoo!
:D:D
Oooo so much good food idk where to start! I have never tried ants on a log with bananas .. GOOD IDEA! So much better than celery haha.
I wish I was addicted to sushi but it isn’t sold a lot near my house
poop.
Also.. I LOVE the idea for your pb&j sammy! YUMMMM.
Love you and your sun burn. That is EPIC. Ow.
<333
I only discovered Asian pears a few weeks ago, nice..but a bit watery for my taste (but then, most imported fruit in the uk is)
I am actually going to try the smoosh tonight. Deeeevine!
x
I’ve never commented before, but I love your blog! That sushi and sweet potato fiesta salad both look and sound so good as do the rest of your eats!
Yeouch! Put aloe vera on your burns! I find it really lovely and helpful for burns. Plus it is totally natural! I love the look of all your savoury food- looks amazing! (Except the mushrooms. Please tell them to go away when I am visiting!
)
I know everyone thinks im crazy but i really dont like fruit!! I eat vegetables like its my job but fruit?! Not my thing…

I must try your sweet potato fiesta salad! And the pbj “smoosh”. What a clever idea! Maybe I can get my kid who only will eat pbj to try it
I came to the conclusion whilst lying in bed last night (as you do), that your food always looks so pretty and colourful. I am going to try and make my food colourful as well, it looks so nice
