Look what I found…
Can’t see it? Look closer!

“Penny On Heads!”
Not the prettiest penny, but still…
When I found it, I immediately said “Penny on Heads!”
Why?
A friend I’ve known since High School would constantly spot these on the ground and exclaim “Penny on Heads” while collecting it with glee.
It was so frick-a-licking cute. She’s pretty awesome.
Did she go around, eyes trained on the ground, looking for these? NO. It’s like she’s programmed to constantly notice and enjoy all the precious little things about life.
That’s a beautiful way to live, huh? Beautiful.
Yeah, she’s like that. Yeah, I still want to be more like her.
I’m not exactly a curmudgeon – I delight over rainbows, butterflies, when I get the gas pump to stop on the dollar – I’m all about cheap thrills and things that make me smile. Let’s just say, there are MANY “pennies on heads” I walk right on by.
When I exclaim “Pennies on Heads,” it’s more channeling my friend and how awesome she is… I also say “It’s 10:17” whenever I catch the clock at that time (another friend).
I’m so blessed to know so many FABULOUS AMAZING people! Kind of makes me wonder…if they’re so special and they like me, then maybe I’m kind of special, too?
That’s a nice feeling,
a “penny on heads type of feeling.”
Dana, If you read this I hope you know how awesome and beautiful I always thought you are and still do
- Penny for your thoughts?
- Have a “Penny on Heads Type Of Feeling Lately?”
*sidenote: These pics are a re-enactment. I snatched the penny up and put it away — the inspiration to write about this came a few minutes later but I showered first. And walked my dog. *giggle*

Did you actually find the penny in your house? Haha
My grandmother does that too. She does it more as a superstitous thing. And when she drops a dish rag on the floor, that means company is coming over. Lol!
Yeah…I mean…I Guess it was mine already? Or my dog walkers. (0:
Haha, there are certain things I do/say because a friend did/said them, and I picked up on it. Now I guess they are my traditions too, and they often make me smile.
Friendships become part of who we are!
Billy is amazed that I find money on the ground – like dollar bills, sometimes even a $5 and one time, I found a $20 on a run in my neighborhood just laying in the grass. I have no idea what it means. Billy says I have “eagle eyes” – I think I’m just really observant, but maybe I shouldn’t be looking at the ground so much!
And I also love pennies on heads – we’d never pick them up unless they were on heads.
And you ARE special! Duh.
I think it’s luck!
That brings a new meaning to te term “pennies from heaven” huh?
I have to start with how special you are! You inspire me with every post you write, you’re so positive and uplifting!
I don’t think I’ve had any recent penny on heads moments but an older one that still makes me smile ( and I still have the penny ) is on my wedding day I broke a nail while at the hair salon so I decided to walk the 1/2 mile to the nail salon to get it refiled so it’d look okay. Everyone kept telling me to drive but it was a gorgeous day and I wanted to walk. On my way over I found a penny.
My grandmother used to tell me that pennies on the ground were kisses from heaven. She had passed away 10 months earlier and we were getting married on what would have been their anniversary. I was sure that broken nail/desire to walk was her way of getting me to that special kiss! Of course I used that as my “penny in my shoe”
That’s a beautiful story Joy!
It’s so ironic that I wrote that last night but I have been in downtown dumpsville lately…just goes to show even when we are down we can always smile!
You are so stinkin’ cute! I don’t ever look for a “penny on heads” but I do like looking for the little things that make me smile. Hope your week is going well!
Ort sometimes it’s just taking a second to think “that made me smile!”
I found a dollar on the sidewalk a couple of days ago and it totally made my day. I spent like 2 hours deciding how to use it.
Little things are what keep us going!
I always wanted to give a dollar I find away to a “homeless peson” on the street — but I rarely find money and when I do I end up just shoving it in my wallet …*blush* So NEXT time I find $ that’s what I’ll do (unless it’s like a 20)
I love the way you look at life. It is great to stop and reflect. Especially when a penny is found. I love making wishes and throwing pennies in fountains. Yes, I am 2 years old! hehe.

i havent had a penny on heads feeling lately but something similar, yet sorta not similar at the same time, occurs when im out and about and always find pennies. i love saving the pennies even tho most ppl dont pick them up. i even have a piggy bank of change i have found on the streets. i really must do a post on it because its getting full and i bet i have a few dollars at least! i need to look and see if they are heads or tails up next time..just for fun..im curious to see if any patterns persist?!?!
I’m curious to know what you end up doing with the money! That would be a cool project.
Say…collect pennies for I dunno…10 years. I wonder hopw much one could accrue?
I LOVE when I find change on the ground; great post in ode to that feeling
That means you are going to have a great week
I love finding lucky charms

I get “pennies on heads” feelings when I’m driving on a beautiful sunny day and the perfect song comes on the radio (or my Ipod). I think of those as “all lights turned green” moments.
Sometimes I picture a little spirity DJ behind iPod’s shuffle function. It can be really freaky.
“Kind of makes me wonder…if they’re so special and they like me, then maybe I’m kind of special, too?”
YES! You ARE more than kind of special, Missy. You’re a beautiful person inside and out. Your spirit is so bright and you inspire SO many people every single day. Don’t ever doubt your worth, because you are worth SO much more than you know!
I love the whole idea of appreciating the small things more. I need to work on this. It’s a hard thing when we so easily become wrapped up in the chaos inside our heads! I find as I’m walking and spring approaches that I really appreciate the chirping of the birds. It’s enough to make me turn my ipod off and just listen as I walk. It’s beautiful! There are so many wonders in this world, it’s such an amazing place.
