Here are some things I’ve ate, thinks I’ve thunk, happenings that happened and random details about me.
(Why the heck am I taking pictures of food and posting them on the internet? Click here <—- for the answer)
Wanna hear a story?
Saturday I went to see Cats…so spectacular! (Thanks Mom).
Whilst getting ready I had
—>a little moment<—
I’ve let the pictures speak the thousand words, and now I’ll let my fingers do the talking.
I pulled out my “Black Pants” (we all have them) and discovered they didn’t fit. I don’t squeeze into stuff. I just can’t. I didn’t want to spend my night in ‘Uncomfortable Pantsland.’
I felt hot, messy and bothered.
I kinda collapsed in my closet. “What am I gonna wear?” I realized these pants don’t fit now and accepting weight gain means accepting they will never fit again.
I needed to get rid of them but… why is that so EFFING hard?
I got angry. I got determined.
I grabbed my camera and prepared to do something I’ve been avoiding for too long.
I quickly snapped ridiculous photos of myself in the mirror, threw on some leggings and headed across the street to the Goodwill drop-off. I couldn’t bring myself to trash them (they’re really nice pants!).
I admit thinking perhaps NO woman should fit into those tiny things, but every body is different…and there are some very tall 12-year olds out there. (0:
Pause: I’m NOT pregnant by the way.
I drove like a mad hatter with just my pants to donate. (The woman in the picture was also holding bags from someone else). I literally squealed up, jumped out of my car and said “please take these.”
Then I asked if I could take her picture because I was having a moment and I like to take ridiculous pictures and post them on the internet.
Driving away…I felt SO good. Gee.Oh.Oh. Gee. You can see it in my face! I got goosebumps. It was pretty awesome, and by awesome I MEAN awesome.
For the record, I wore jeans.
And heels! (I’m not always in flip-flops)
The end.

Thank you all for the comments left on that post and all of them. They mean …ah…so much to me. I wish I had a cool blog where I can respond and be sure you got it via email but alas…

Throw out any “skinny clothes” lately? I have a whole lot more work to do, myself. I should probably throw out many things that still fit but that are sizes not meant for a 32 year old woman.

Any tips/feedback on my culinary swagger or lack thereof?

Missy,
Looking at the pics of you donating those pants left me with the biggest smile on my face. Reading your words just now only made my smile grow bigger! You made a wonderful decision…I have plenty of jeans that shouldn’t fit me in my dresser that I should get rid of too. Hanging onto those things only makes recovery harder, you made a wonderful decision!
Your eats look good to me…but then again, I don’t know if I’m the right person to be asking right now! Not sure how balanced I am myself! When you make the apple with cinnamon and yogurt…do you heat up the yogurt too?? I’ve done the apple and cinnamon thing before…it’s super yummy but I never thought to put yogurt on it! Warmed up yogurt sounds kinda funky…but then again I have no idea, haha.
You’re beautiful inside and out Missy! You’re such an inspiration to me : ).

P.S. LOVE your shoes!!
Hey Girl!
Yeah…I have a closet full of where that came from…all I have to say is wait until the mood strikes and then go big or go home. I bet your parents will buy you an entire new wardrobe. I’m 32, and mine will. They have also promised cruises…all kinds of stuff. Anyways…gather courage and just do IT!
When I do the warm apples, I never heat the yogurt….when you drizzle it on it gets melty and when you dip it, it provides a perfect cool counter foil. Try it!
Sometime I mix pumpkin from a can and yogurt and sweetener and that heats well…provides a nice warm counter dip to a nice crisp apple. Carbs, Dairy, Protein…
I will be so happy if I gave you an idea to try something new. (0:
The shoes are Micheal Kors and for the record SO COMFY!
Love to love you girl. Really.

I like this follow up post as well
All of your eats look so great and nutritious! Mmmm! And yeah their are a lot of 12 year olds out there… my sister! UGH! LOL. So proud of you
1. Please never apologize about your flip-flop wearing again. [Although your shoes are pretty darn cute.
]
2. You can say “oh my goll” any time you want.
3. I was born in Pennsylvania, but a mama from Georgia and endless summers spent in Virginia and North Carolina have led me to not only infuse my daily speech with the word y’all. I also identify myself as a southerner on a daily basis….which confused people who grew up with me. I’ve talked about it in snippets throughout the days of the blog, but I think this was one of the most recent posts about it:http://www.thesmartkitchenblog.com/2010/10/howdy-yall.html….or here:http://www.thesmartkitchenblog.com/2010/03/whack-chicken-latest-arcade-craze.html
4. I should probably write an About Me page at some point.
Not much to say here Missy except… I am SOO SOO proud of you!!!!! haha Wow, that pants post was incredibly strong of you. You have so many good things to come. And I agree – I know that if, no, WHEN! my parents see me fully recover, they’ll buy me 30 new wardrobes haha so those pants are better off at goodwill! Keep it up girl — you’re amazingly strong! And I love all the feedback I get from you
Thanks for the continued support!

Getting to that stage where non of the pants fit anymore, is a unique feeling. Most people can freak out an decide to skip lunch, but we have to embrace it. We have to keep gaining. And while I’ve outgrown many pants by now, I’ve stuck them around my room and not found the inspiration to do what you did. I keep meaning to though, honestly.
And just think about whoever got those pants really needed them. Isn’t awesome how one ordeal we go through in our lives, can maybe benefit someone else we don’t even know?!
Keep it up! I want to start following your great progress!
<3 Tori
Thanks Tori!
Yeah..I have a lot more pants to go through in my closet but that day was the day I had the gumption and I went with it…Next time I “we?” get that awesome drive lets make a pact to just go with it….then frantically frive to a goodwill and freak out the drop off lady (0:
It’s unique to us because most people would feel the freustration at outgrowing clothes but we are in a position where we intuitively know it needs to be done…
I keep trying to channel my inner six year old who could seriously care less when they outgrow crap. Watching my nephew helped.
Seriously..if that was not right across the street I may have opted for the trash cause I dont like the idea of a bag “waiting to donate” hanging around.
Thanks again,
Missy
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
